Donald W. Rowe

Donald W. Rowe, 63, 3605 Hickory Lane, Lafayette. died Saturday, Sept. 29, at 8:55 p.m. in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. He had been battling liver cancer the past year.

He was born July 22, 1927 in Hammond. At an early age he moved to Brookston and graduated from Brookston High School in 1945. He served in the Navy during World War II.

Mr Rowe was married Aug. 5, 1950, to Marilyn A. Young in Lafayette. They owned Gravely Lawn and Garden shop since 1958. He also drove a bus for the Lafayette School Corp. for 20 years.

An avid woodworker, Mr Rowe enjoyed farming and flying and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He also was a member of American Legion 251 at Brookston and Libanus Masonic Lodge 154 of Monticello.

Surviving with his wife are a son, John Rowe, West Point; a daughter, Mrs John (Nancy) Spitznagle, Dayton; his mother, Johanna Rowe, Brookston; and two sisters, Mrs Lester (Marjorie) Gray, Monticello and Susan Thomson of Hialeah, Fla., 5 grandchildren, Marc, Kyle and Autumn Rowe, Ross and Elaine Spitznagle.

The service was in Hippensteel Chapel Tuesday, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Virginia M. Nead. Interment was in Tippecanoe Memory
