Charles E. Rotruck, 81, of Buffalo community died Saturday, June 1, 2002 at his residence. He had been ill for six years.
He was born on September 19, 1920 in White County, the son of Merle and Pearl Sandberg Rotruck. He married Ruth Speicher on October 17, 1942 in Medford, Oregon. She survives.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1942 — 46 in the South Pacific with the 353rd Army Engineers. He lived in the community for most of his life and was a 1939 graduate of Buffalo High School.
He was a farmer for 30 years and sold Kendall Motor Oil for 30 years, and was retired from both.
He was a member of the Buffalo Church of the Brethren.
He was a member of American Legion Post 81 of Monticello.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter Shirley Frybort of Cicero, IN; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
One son is deceased.
Graveside services were held at the Buffalo Cemetery on Monday with Rev. James Facklam officiating. Kellogg Funeral Home was in charge.
