Max E. Rogers, 69, Lafayette. died Monday, May 17, at 6:35 a.m. at his residence.
Mr Rogers worked for and managed the Attica IGA grocery store for 12 years, retiring December 1994. He formerly had worked for A&P grocery stores for 26 years.
Born June 21, 1929, in Monon, he graduated from Monon High School in 1947. He lived in Attica for 10 years, Indianapolis and Pennsylvania, before moving to Lafayette seven months ago.
He married Martha McBee, April 16, 1950, in Frankfort and she survives.
He was a member of the Attica Christian Church and of the American Legion Post 52 of Attica. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving during peacetime.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Marc Rogers of Hanover, Pa.; four daughters, Mrs Bill (Denita) Truscott of Beaverton, Ore., Mrs Don (Charla) Hutchinson of Veederburg, Mrs Jonathan (Lechia) Stone of San Antonio, Texas and Mrs Tony (Cindy) Underhill of Lafayette; a brother, Richard Rogers of Indianapolis and a sister, Mary Kingma of Rensselaer.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Proceeded [sic] in death by a grandson, Ryan Cross; and a brother, Wilford.
Services were Thursday, May 20, at Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. Loren Hetrick officiating. Interment was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.
