Ethel P. Richardson

Ethel P. Richardson, 83, of Brookston and formerly of Monon, died at her home on Saturday, April 23, 2005.

She was born February 2, 1922 in Lee, IN to J. Howard and Goldia Kesler Smith.

She was a 1940 graduate of Monon High School. She married Dale Raymond Richardson on June 14; 1941 in Monon. He died October 8, 1998.

She was a member of the Brookston United Methodist Church, Prairie Extension Homemakers Club, Life Member and Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 319, Monon and was active with the Methodist Sunday Lunch Ladies Club, and was currently President of the Frontier Senior Citizens Club.

She was also on the Board of Directors of the Brookston Van Committee[.]

She worked at Monon Telephone Company as a bookkeeper for 23 years. She retired in 1986. She and her husband moved to Brookston in 1987.

Survivors include two daughters, Jerilyn Burgess of Indianapolis and Kay (Francis) Franscoviak of Battle Ground; two sons, James J. (Terri) Richardson of Bremen and Dale R. Richardson II of Salilsbury [sic], MD; three sisters, Lois Jean Hansen of Elwood, Pat (Joe) Thomas of Harrison, AK and Zoe Marie Baker of Crystal Lake, IL; two brothers, Dewey Smith of Elwood and Harry (Fran) Smith of Spencer, IN; nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Dottie Smith.

A brother, Mel Smith, is deceased.

Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. today at United Methodist Church in Brookston with Rev. Jan Dimick officiating.

Burial will be at Bedford Cemetery near Monon. Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home, Brookston is in charge of services.
