Ara E. Reed, 92, of Lafayette and formerly of Monon died Monday, December 5, 2005, at St. Mary's Health Care in Lafayette.

She was born in Jasper County on June 12, 1913 to Emery E. and Tillie R. (Linback) Baughman. She married Maurice C. Reed in Frankfort, IN on January 1, 1948[;] he died April 18, 1971.

She graduated from Monon High School in 1931.

A homemaker, she worked as a secretary for Monon Power and Electric for 15 years.

She has [sic] spent most of her life in the Monon area.

She was a member of the Monon United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary in Monon.

She was very active in her church and enjoyed reading, writing poems and needle work.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews and a great-great-niece.

Four sisters and a brother preceded her in death.

Visitation will be at Kellogg Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. today with funeral services at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday with Rev. Mathew Pickut officiating.
