Vernice R. Rausch

Vernice R. Rausch, 86, Monon, died Friday, September 9, 2005 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette. She had been ill for four weeks.

She was born at Fowler on March 26, 1919 to Elmer and Edna Booth Rhoades.

She married Richard L. Rausch on April 3, 1948 in Lafayette. He died February 26, 1998.

She was a graduate of Pine Township High School in the Fowler area.

She was a homemaker, and had served as a surgica1 nurse in the United States WAVES, stationed at San Diego during World War II.

She moved to Monon from Fowler in 1965.

She attended the Monon United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for 75 years for the Methodist Church. She was also a Girl Scout leader for several years.

Surviving are three sons; David (Trish) Rausch of Avon, Paul Rausch of Mosca, Colorado and Phillip (Donna) Rausch of Monon; two daughters, Sarah Rausch of Goodland and Evelyn (MiKe) Zarse of Monon; two brothers, Orville (Doris) Rhoades of Lafayette and Clifford Rhoades of Dennison, Texas; a sister, Helen Golding of South [B]end; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

One son, one sister and two brothers are deceased.

Funeral services were Tuesday at Kellogg Funeral Home with Rev. Mathew Pickut officiating.

Burial was in Mt. Gilboa Cemetery in Fowler.
