Gene Fatterson Rardon
Gene Patterson Rardon, 73, of Brookston, died at his home on Saturday, February 8, 2003.
He had been in failing health for some time.
He was born in Lafayette to Harley and Evelyn Patterson Rardon on September 18, 1929. He married Mary Blankman on November 28, 1953.
He was a 1947 graduate of Jefferson High School in Lafayette. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Catholic Church and had been a chef at the Knights of Columbus in Lafayette for several years during the 1960s and 1970s.
He was a member of the Lafayette Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Delphi Post of American Legion.
He formerly worked as a brake man on the Monon Railroad and worked for 20 years at University Bookstore in West Lafayette.
He lived in Brookston prior to moving to Mesa, Arizona in 1979, where he worked in office supply and archiving before retiring in 2002.
He had returned to Brookston last week.
He was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast, and had been a batboy for the Lafayette Red Sox semi-pro baseball team.
Other survivors include a brother James D. (Margaret) Rardon, of Lafayette; two sons, Kevin (Angie) Rardon of Temecula, Calif., and Sean Rardon, of Beaver Dam, Wisc.; two daughters, Beth (Ron) Waldburger, also of Beaver Dam, Wisc., and Lynn North and Junior Minth (companion) of Brookston and eight granddaughters and three grandsons.
There will be a private service with cremation. The family requests no flowers.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
