Harry G. Quade

Harry G. Quade, 86, of Monon died Monday, August 9, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette. He had been ill for two weeks. He was a lifetime resident of Monon.

He was born April 15, 1918, in Monon to Louis J. and Elizabeth Rogers Quade. He married Lucille M. Seymour on June 14, 1940, in LaPorte. She died April 16, 2004.

He was a 1936 graduate of Monon High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1945, as a Radio Man 3rd Class on the U.S.S. Bridge in the Pacific Theater.

He was retired from farming after 35 years. He worked for the Monon Railroad for two years and for Coca-Cola for 18 years. He drove a school bus for 16 years for North White Schools.

He was a member of the V.F.W. in Reynolds and the American Legion in Chalmers. He frequently attended the annual U.S.S. Bridge Reunion, held throughout the United States. The highlight was the commissioning of a new ship, named the U.S.S. Bridge in Seattle, Wash.

Survivors include a son, Gary (Fay) Quade of Brookston, a sister Marguerite Fields of St. Anne, Ill. and four grandchildren.

Two sons, two brothers, five sisters and one grandchild preceded him in death.

Funeral services were at the Kellogg Funeral Home with Pastor Mathew Pickut officiating.

Burial was in Bedford Cemetery.
