Clarence Pence

Clarence William "Bill" Pence, 68, of Monticello died Friday, November 26, 2004 at the Veterans Administration Illiana Healthcare System in Danville, Ill.

He was born, November 27, 1935, at Osgood to Jack and Margaret Race Pence.

He had lived in White County communities most of his life. He retired from the maintenance department at Essex in Lafayette after 30 years of employment.

He loved traveling and camping and had visited every state except Alaska and Hawaii.

He also loved horses, fishing and cars. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a member of the Lafayette American Legion Post No. 11. He was also a member and served as president of the U.A.W. Local No. 1497 in Lafayette for 20 years.

Survivors include daughters Darlene Little of Williamsport, Mona Nightingale of Monon and Melanie Carnahan of West Lebanon, a fiancee, Sally Hogan and a stepdaughter, Wendy Hogan, both of Monticello; nephews Mark Pence of Corydon and Miles Pence of Kentucky; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Seven brothers are deceased.

Graveside services were held Wednesday at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette with Pastor Tom Dewlen, officiating.
