Lloyd Parks, 93, of Tucson, AZ, and a former White County resident died Tuesday, April 5, 2005 in Tucson.
He was born in Scott County, IN, to 0.C. and Effie Parks. He was the youngest of a family of nine children.
The family moved to White County when he was an infant.
He was a graduate of Chalmers High School and Purdue University. He shoveled coal for families' furnaces, cleaned sidewalks of snow and worked at other manual labor to pay for his college education during the Depression.
He was a professor at the University of Wisconsin for several years, where he also earned his doctor's degree in Pharmacy. He and his family then moved to Columbus, Ohio, where he was Dean of Pharmacy at Ohio State University until his retirement.
He wrote several journals in his field that have been published. He was honored by Purdue University as a special graduate.
He loved children, gardening and in later years, his computer. He also had a loving dog, Bo, for a companion since the death of his wife[.]
Survivors include a daughter, Regina Parks of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Carmen Parks of Monticello; and several nieces and nephews.
His wife of 40 years, Irene, is deceased. Following her death, he married a former classmate and she is also deceased.
Services are planned at a later date, with buria1 in Columbus.
