Ardath M. Owens, 90, of Monon died Friday, June 13, 2003, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. She lived at Twin Lakes Village in Monticello since December 2002 and had been in ill health for 10 months.
She was born May 26, 1913, in Monon, to Chester Arthur and Nellie Helfrich Lutes. She married Gerald M. Owens on March 14, 1942. He died October 31, 1967.
She was a life-long resident of the community. She was a 1931 graduate of Monon High School.
She was a homemaker. She worked for several businesses in Monon, including Marsh Foodliner, Annis IGA Store and Howe Insurance Agency. She also worked for Woodward-Schumacher, Rensselaer.
She was a member of Monon First Baptist church.
She made and sold crafts from her home for several years.
Surviving are daughters, Carol Sue Stevenson of Lafayette and Marsha Kay (Larry) Brubaker of Kokomo; a son Robert G. (Jean) Owens of Monon and grandchildren Joy Brubaker of Kokomo and Michael Owens of Monon.
Two sisters and two brothers are deceased.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Kellogg Funeral Home in Monon with Rev. Steve Birch officiating.
Burial was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.
