William M. Overman, 79, former White County resident, died Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Indiana Veterans Home in West Lafayette where he had resided since May 1994.
He was born in Monticello on June 5, 1915 to Charles and Gladys Hague Overman.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-45 during World War II.
He retired in 1980 from Purdue University where he had worked in Wiley Hall in maintenance.
He was a member of the Chalmers American Legion Post No. 268. He lived in White County, California and Lafayette before moving into the Veterans Home.
Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Sinnert of' Germany; one brother, Everette Overman of Lafayette; one sister, Dorthey Putt of Monticello; and one grandson.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, the Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiated.
Burial was in IOOF Brookston Cemetery. VFW Post No. 1154 performed a military service at the cemetery.
