James J. Odell, 85, formerly of Chalmers, died Friday, Jan. 23, at Home Hospital Extended Care Unit, Lafayette.

He was born Sept. 23, 1912, to James W. and Susie Nace Odell,  in Chalmers. He was married Feb. 6, 1944, to Merle Lucille Kirkpatrick, in Delphi and she is deceased.

He graduated from Chalmers High School in 1930.

He retired in 1992, from farming.

He was a member of Brookston Federated Church.

Survivors include a son, Kirk of Lafayette; two daughters, Mrs Roger (Alice) Victor, Kokomo and Margaret Odell, Monticello; six grandchildren and a great grandchild.

·A sister is deceased.

Funeral services were Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston with the Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiating.

Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Brookston Federated Church or CDC of White County.
