William Ralph Norwood, 71, of Lafayette, friend on [sic] local residents died Friday, September 21, 2001 at his home.

He was born in Hammond on December 25, 1929, to Ollie Claude and Dora Belle Nix Norwood. He married Edith Aline Kirby in Hammond on September 8, 1950. She survives.

He worked as a construction superintendent and project manaager.

He was a member of the East Tipp Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Ralph Norwood of Lafayette; four daughters, Connie L. Hall of Battle Ground, Jacqueline K. Diaz of Battle Ground, Kirby C. Norwood, of Lafayette, and Rebecca B. Holladay. Of [sic] Battle Ground; two brothers, O. Lee Norwood of Tampa, FL and Paul A. Norwood, of West Lafayette, two sisters; M. Marlene Hirtzer of Port Charlotte, FL. And Arlene N. Dunn of Salt Lake City, UT. Eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston on Tuesday.

The body was donated to anatomical study.

Memorials may be made to the East Tipp Baptist Church or American Cancer Society.
