Theodore (Ted) J. Nichols

Theodore (Ted) Nichols, 73, of Brookston died Saturday, October 14, 2000 in St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born August 1, 1927 in Gilboa Township, Benton County, INI the son of Theodore H. and Deltha Trueblood Nichols.

He married Evelyn Doughty September 16, 1951 in Fowler. She died September 2, 1980.

He graduated from Fowler High School in 1945.

A farmer and real estate developer, he was the former owner of Butler-Nichols Implement John Deere Dealerships in Rensselaer and DeMotte. He had served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the Brookston United Methodist Church, John Purdue Club, Monticello American Legion Post #81, Moose Lodge #906, Monticello, Eagles Aerie 347, Lafayette and Elks Club #1791 in Watseka, IL.

He is survived by two sons, John (Patty) Nichols, Nobelsville, IN and David (Anita) Nichols of Manhattan, KS and a daughter Nancy (Doug) Dunham, Overland Park, KS and a special friend Carol Ritter of Brookston.

One brother, Leonard Nichols of Otterbein, IN and a sister Alma Nichols of Fowler, IN also survive along with 4 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and I step great grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 2000 at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with Pastor Jan Dimick officiating.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brookston.
