Albert W. "Wally" Newberry, 71, of Brookston, died Friday, July 18, at 2:30 a.m. at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born, October 19, 1931, in Barren County, Kentucky. He was married June 27, 1959, to Linda J. King in Lafayette, and she survives.
He worked for Peerless Wire Goods Co. for 23 and [sic] years and then for Alcoa, where he later retired. After retirement he worked as a driver for Bartlett Ford for three years.
He was a member of the American Legion of Chalmers.
He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and he liked to fish, travel and ride his snowmobile.
Other survivors include a son, Steven W. Newberry, Brookston; a daughter, Tracy E. (Fred) Peters, Brookston; a brother, Stanley (Barb) Newberry, Monticello and a sister, Linda (Don) Smith, Lafayette; four grandchildren.
A brother, Marvin Newberry, preceded him in death.
Graveside services were Monday, July 21, at the Brookston IOOF Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Lelan D. McReynolds officiating. Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home, Brookston, was in charge of arrangements.
