Tommy Lee Neal

Tommy Lee Neal, 71, of LaPorte. the brother of a Chalmers resident, died Wednesday, March 31, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 5, 1928, in Monticello, to Byron and Lucille Gallinger Neal. He was married Nov. 8, 1948, to Alyce Lea Wolf in St. Joseph, Mich. and she survives.

He was a graduate of Chalmers High School.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Japan.

He worked at the Indiana State Prison as superintendent of farms, retiring in 1992 after having worked there since 1948.

He was a member of Bible Baptist Church of Michigan City.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Marilyn Durham of Fort Wayne and Cindy Sturgis of Evansville; three sons, Mark of Kentwood, Mich. and Andy and Rick, both of Michigan City; a brother, Wallace of Chalmers and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral service was conducted Saturday at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte with the Rev. David Angus officiating.

Burial was in Carmel Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Baptist Bible Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
