He was born, June 26, 1914, to Guy and Esther Wingard Moore, in Wolcott He was married 1936 to AIta Madelle North who died in 1960. He married Mary Martha Shuey Reifert, in 1961, and she survives.
He war a graduate of Monticello High School in 1932 and a Navy veteran of World War II, also the Korean War. After retiring from the Navy in 1957, as a Chief Petty Officer, he served in the Naval Reserves for 10 years.
From 1967 to the mid 1960s be owned Ray's Barber Shop in Brookston. During the time he lived in Brookston, he was a member of the Brookston Federated Church and a former Sunday school teacher.
After selling the barber shop he worked for Globe Valve and then at Peters-Revington. He retired in 1980.
He was a member of Delphi American Legion Post 75 and was active on the men's bowling leagues in Delphi.
Surviving with his wife are three stepdaughters, Patricia Ann Abbott, Rensselaer; Mary Lytle, Monticello and Virginia Cox, Rossville; one stepson, David (Mike) Reifert, Camden; two sisters, Hazel Collins, Thornhope and Lillian Stover, Star City; one brother, Guy Earl Moore, South Bend; 14 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Funeral services were at Horn Funeral Home in Delphi, with Navy Chaplain Joe Kiene officiating.
Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette, with full military rites.
