Mary D. Montgomery

Mary D. Airhart Montgomery, 79 of Lafayette died Friday. March 26, 1999 at her home. She had been in failing health for the past three years.

She was born July 17, 1919 in White County, the daughter of William C. and Kathryne Reiner Airhart and had lived in White, Carroll and Tippecanoe counties. She had retired from Purdue University in 1984 after 32 years as a dish room supervisor in the Purdue Memorial Union.

She attended the First Baptist Church in Lafayette.

Her marriage was to Cecil Montgomery in 1935 and they divorced in 1944.

She is survived by a son Harold Montgomery of Omaha, Nebraska and two daughters. Shirley Turner of Lafayette with whom she made her home for the past several years, and Sandra Dyer of Lafayette.

Two sisters, Florence Ferguson and Josephine Hanover both of Lafayette also survive. She had 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grand children and 1 great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents William C. Airhart and Kathryne Reiner Airhard, 3 brothers and 2 grandsons.

Funeral service was Tuesday at the Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with Dr. Carl Malmgren officiating.  Burial was in Battle Ground Cemetery.
