Verna S. Monbeck, 98, of Highland, a former Buffalo area resident died Friday, July 5, 2002.

She was a retired schoolteacher who had taught in Munster, Griffith and at Buffalo School in White County. Her husband, Lon Monbeck was superintendent of schools for Highland.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Highland. Survivors include nephews, Boyd (Carmen) Sutton of Wisconsin, Richard (Jean) Marion of Delphi and Robert (Leah) Marion of Monon.

Her husband Lon and a son John are deceased.

Funeral services were July 9 at Kupler Funeral Home Chapel in Highland with Rev. Rob Crytzer officiating.

Burial was at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.
