Charles W. Miller

Charles W. Miller, 71, Chalmers, died Friday, May 11, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette.  He had been seriously ill for several months.

He was born Jan. 28, 1919, to Charles William and Mary E. Allen Miller, in Chalmers. He was married Aug. 26,1938, to Zula Mae Horton, who survives.

He had worked for 25 years as a truck driver for the former National Homes Co. in Lafayette. He retired in 1977 due to ill health.

He lived in the Chalmers area for 60 years. He was a member of Monticello Baptist Church, American Legion Post No.81, Monticello and the Eagles Lodge, Monticello.

Survivors include a son, Max Miller, Monticello; a daughter, Shirley Wilkerson, R.3, Monticello; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Edna Lucille Spear, Monticello.

A brother and sister are deceased.

The funeral was Tuesday at Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home, with the Rev Robert Flynn officiating.

Burial was in Chalmers Cemetery.
