Walter G. Melton, 54, of Monon died Saturday, November 16, 2002, in Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac.

He had been ill for several years.

He was born on March 5, 1948, in Lafayette to Charles Glenwood Melton and Frieda J. Johnson Thomas. His mother survives.

He had lived in Monon all his life.

He was a private in the Army from 1967-68.

He was an avid CB radio operator.

Surviving with his fiancee, Nancy Lou Bolton of Knox, are a son, Walter G. Melton, Jr of Illinois; brothers, Charles Melton, of Monon and Richard Melton of Chalmers, and a sister, Diana Wertz, of Monon and four grandchildren.

Graveside services were this morning at Milroy Cemetery in Lee with Rev. Steve Birch officiating. Kellogg Funeral Home was a charge of arrangements.
