Iola E. "Olie" Meier
Iola E. "Olie" Meier, 91, of Wolcott, died Monday, December 12, 2005 at Twin Lakes Village, Monticello. She had been failing health for many years.

She was born at LaPorte on October 28, 1914, to Cyrus and Amelia (Dehm) Thorndyke.

She married Lawrence Meier on October 2, 1935. He died May 6, 1980.

She was a homemaker and also an excellent seamstress. She was a mainstay on the farm with her husband helping in many ways, especially with the cows.

She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds and was also a member of the church quilting club. She was one of the original Foundation Leaders who started the White County 4-H Board and was a 4-H sewing 1eader for many years. At one time she was very active with the Wolcott Home Economics Club and on the board of the Bank of Wolcott and Peoples Feed Mill.

Survivors include daughter Kay (Roger) Danner, Chalmers; sisters Armetta (Richard) Johnson, Pontiac, Ill., and Alice (Eldon) Buff, Clifton, Ill; brother Everette (Jeanette) Thorndyke, Piper City, Ill.; 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Daughter Evelyn Whitaker, son Lawrence E. "Butch" Meier, and brother Clyde Thorndyke are deceased.

Funeral services were Friday at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston with Rev. Charles Blakey officiating.

Burial was in St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery, Reynolds.
