Elmer Roscoe McKnight, 81, 819 Wood St., Brookston, died Saturday, June 11, at 8 am. in Home Hospital, Lafayette, where he had been a patient for nine weeks.
He was born April 4, 1907, in Salem to John and Zella Farabee McKnight. He was married on Feb 25, 1928, in Salem to Vernie Avice Sullivan, who survives.
He moved from Salem to Brookston area in 1943. He was a retired carpenter and formerly worked at Indiana Soldier's Home and the Alcoa Plant in Lafayette. He was a former Brookston town marshal and a member of Brookston Church of Christ.
Also surviving, are a son, Herbert C., Delphi; a daughter, Mrs Donald L. (Clarice) Yerk, R.1, Chalmers; three sisters: Mrs Alberta Taylor Bennett, Otterbein; Mrs C. Elmo (Helen) Souder of Scottsburg and Mrs Frank (Edna) Dismore, West Lafayette; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One brother is deceased.
Services were conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Hartzler Funeral. Home, Brookston, with Bill Romans and Bill Miller officiating. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
