Leona McKee, 92, of Brookston, died Friday, June 18, 2004 in her home.

She had been in failing health for several years.

She was born in Cando, N.D., on July 22, 1911 and moved to Indiana in 1921.

She married Russell McKee on September 20, 1930 in Monticello. He died on November 8, 1986.

She had worked at the Indiana Veterans Home in the laundry for 27 years before retiring in 1978.

She loved to garden and work in her flowers. She also enjoyed sewing.

Survivors include a daughter, Suzann (Dallas) Hale of Brookston; granddaughters Crystal Hale and Misty (Vincent) Paiz and a great-granddaughter, Kyra Bell.

Five brothers and five sisters are deceased.

Services were Monday at the Brookston I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
