Herbert H. McGill Sr., 83, Wolcott, died Tuesday, October 16, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He had been ill for 2 1/2 months.
He was born June 3, 1907, to Jackson and Mary Ann Horton McGill, in Harrisburg, Ill. He was married June 10, 1933, to Verneice Bulington, who survives.
He lived in White County for more than 60 years and was a retired farmer. He also worked at Daniells Construction Co. for 10 years.
He was a member of the Wolcott Methodist Church.
Surviving with his wife are four daughters, Dorothy Barker, Citrus Heights, Calif.; Mary Baker, Monon; Patricia Anker, Monticello; and Elizabeth Shanklin, Goodland; six sons, Herbert Jr. and Jim, both of Monon; Ebert, Panama City, Fla.; Harold, Monticello; David, Mesa, Arizona, and Dan, Sacramento; 33 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; one brother, Tom, Brookston; three sisters, Anna Belle Woods, Elizabeth Eigle and Gerty Kolenhammer, all of Evansville. Seven brothers, five grandsons and two great granddaughters are deceased.
The funeral was today at 11 a.m. at Kellogg Funeral Home in Monon with Rev Ronald Spiker officiating.
Burial was in Bedford Cemetery near Monon.
