William J. McCoy

William J. "Bill" McCoy, 74, 607 Davis St., Brookston, died at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, in a traffic accident north of Brookston.

He was born May 21, 1915, to Tillman Howard and Lydia Meredith McCoy, in Tippecanoe County. He was married Oct. 1, 1939, to Irene Bush. in Lafayette. She survives.

He retired from Fauber Construction in Lafayette in 1981, after 15 years. He was a 1934 graduate of Monitor High School and moved to Brookston in 1947.

He was a member of the Brookston Federated Church and the International Union of Operating Engineers, local 103.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Mrs Larry (Phyllis) McGill, Brookston and Mrs Troy (Judy) Payton, Delphi; three brothers, Dwight, Logansport; Leonard, Battle Ground and Russel, Fort Meyers, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs Helen Erwin, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Mrs Ted (Jessie) Petit, Crawfordsville; one grandson and two great grandchildren.

Four sisters and one brother are deceased.

The funeral was Wednesday at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston, the Rev Duncan MacNab and the Rev Bill Radcliffe officiating.

Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
