Virginia M. McCombs, 80, of Buffalo, died Saturday, June 7, 2003 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.
She was born at Buffalo on December 19, 1922, to James and Lula Mclntire Hickman. She married Phillip McCombs at Spartanburg, S.C. on May 20, 1945. He died April 20, 1980.
She had lived in the Buffalo community all her life. She was a 1941 graduate of Buffalo High School.
She was an active member of the Buffalo Christian Church and was the official welcome/attendance keeper at the church. She was a member of the Liberty Township Home Extension Club and the Buffalo Fire Department Auxiliary since the start of the organization.
She had lived on a farm and had worked at the old Monticello RCA Plant when her husband went away during World War II.
She loved playing euchre and bunko.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy (Doug) Kammerer of Monticello and Patsy (Michael) Anderson of Monticello, a son Douglas (Christine) McCombs of Monticello, and eight grandchildren.
Daughters Debora and Pamela McCombs, a sister, step-sister, step-brother and step-father are deceased.
Services were this morning at the Buffalo Christian Church with Greg Nydegger officiating.
Burial was in Buffalo Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Buffalo Christian Church or Buffalo Fire Department.
Miller-Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello was in charge of services.
