Leota K. Thomas Matthews, 70, 704 Wood St., Brookston, died Saturday, June 8, at Home Hospital, Lafayette. She had been in ill health for the last two years. She was admitted to Home Hospital, May 31.
She was born May 24, 1921, to Clarence and Katherine Fry Thomas, at Badger Grove. She wass married Feb. 21, 1941, to Leonard I. Matthews, in Chalmers. He survives.
She graduated in 1940 from Brookston High School.
She and her husband had lived for 12 years, in Wolcott, in Battle Ground for 5 years and in 1963, moved to Brookston.
Survivors beside her husband are her father, West Lafayette; three daughters, Marcia Morgan, Mrs. Larry (Linda) Wood and Mrs Louis (Janet) Capper, all of Brookston, two brothers, Marvin Thomas, Mississippi and Francis "Chub" Thomas, Brookston; a sister, Mrs Carl (Elizabeth) Minniear, Reynolds; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A brother and two grandchildren are deceased.
The funeral was Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Pastor Chester Ash officiating.
Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
