June Halsema Martin, 81, former Chalmers resident, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, in Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare. She had resided at the center since July 3, 1998.

She was born April 19, 1921 to Peter and Lavinia Kaufman Halsema,in Tippecanoe County. She was married April 27, 1941, to Claude P. "Yutz" Martin in Wolcott. He died December 1, 1977.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Sue (Larry) Oilar of Brookston; sons, Ron (Pat) Martin and Mick (Carol) Martin, both of Brookston, Claude "Pink" Martin of Monticello and Herbie (Bendy) Martin of Chalmers; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren.

A brother and four sisters are deceased.

Services were Friday at 10 a.m. in the Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Jim Northcutt officiatng.

Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.
