Oscar David Martinez

Oscar David Martinez, 29, Monticello died Sunday, June 27, 1999 at Home Hospital in Lafayette.

He was born June 8, 1973 in Mission Texas, the son of David and Margarita Mendez Martinez.

Oscar had lived most of his life in White County and received his GED while living within the county. He was a welder by trade, working at the former Monon Corp. and then with HPA Monon. He was currently working as a welder at Cives Steel just east of Wolcott.

Oscar enjoyed spending time with his twin daughters and fishing when time permitted.

Surviving besides his mother are his step-father Fred Firkin of Monon; daughters Kylie and Anglea Martinez of Monon, two brothers. George Mendez and Eddie Mendez both of Monon, a sister Yvonne Martinez of Monticello, his maternal grandparents Pedra and. Albina Mendez of Mission. TX. Paternal grandmother, Lupe Martinez of Tampes. Mexico, paternal stepmother. Maxine Firkin of Monon, an uncle Danny Mendez of Monon, his ex-wife Sonya Martinez of Buffalo and one niece, Jordon Martinez, of Monticello.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Martinez.

The funeral will take place at the Bedford Cemetery on Thursday, July 1 at 2.00 p.m., with Brian Huber as the officiating clergy. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the cemetery. Miller-Roscka Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
