Oscar Marquez, 43, of Monon, died Friday, May 2, 2003, at his residence. He had been ill for five months.
He was born at Chicago on August 28, 1959.
He was a graduate of Uvalde (Texas) High School.
He was an environmental technician.
He moved from Chicago to the White County area in 1991.
He was a member of the Buffalo Christian Church.
He was a member of Madonna Knights of Columbus of Chicago. He was a Boy Scout Leader and youth counselor.
Survivors include his parents Salvador Marquez Sr., of Uvalde, Texas, and Marta Velasquez of Chicago; a daughter, Kelly Barrett of Lafayette; sons, Anthony Marquez and David Marquez, both of Monon; the mother of his children, Linda Marquez of Buffalo; a sister Maricela Marquez of San Antonio, Texas; brothers Salvador (Martha) Marquez of Chicago, Jose (Deborah) Marquez of North Judson, Robert (Rita) Marquez of San Antonio, Texas; Hector (Carolina) Velasquez of Chicago and Marcos Marquez of Uvalde, Texas.
Services were today at Buffalo Christian Church with Pastor Greg Nydegger officiating.
Burial was in Monon Cemetery.
