Walter 0. Marohl, 71, of Monon died Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at his residcnce following a lengthy illness.
He was born October 26, 1930 in Patoka, Illinois, the son of Fayne and Seffie Melton Marohl Chapman. He married Rosalie Johnson on July 3, 1956 in Remington, Indiana. She survives.
A union construction worker for several years, he served as a Sgt. in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He had lived in the Monon area for 40 years where he coached Little League, Babe Ruth, Girls' Softball & High School baseball for several years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 319 in Monon, Laborers & Hod Carriers Union Local #41, Hammond, In and Midwest Field Trial Association.
Also surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Marohl, Monon, and Marilyn (Dave) Call, Galveston, Ind. and a son Doug Marohl, Crab orchard, W. Virginia.
Other survivors include seven brothers; Burl Marohl, Greenville, IL, Bill Chapman, Hebron, IN, Chuck Chapman, Monticello, and Bob Chapman, Larry Chapman, Roger Chapman and Steve Chapman all of Rensselaer and two sisters; Marge Clark, Monticello and Geraldine Clouse, Rensselaer. He had three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services with Military Rites will be conducted at Milroy Cemetery at Lee, Ind. at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 14 with Pastor Don Newman officiating. There will be no visitation.
