Henry E. "Hank" Marconett

Henry E. "Hank" Marconett, 67, Chalmers, died Thursday, Sept. 6, at 7:25 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, where he had been a patient for one day.

He was born April 21, 1923 to Aaron and Ida Malone Marconett, in Lawrence, Kansas. He was married Aug. 7, 1946, to Norma Meeks, in Lawrence, Kansas, and she survives.

For the past 22 years he lived in Chalmers and in 1981 retired as a welder with the Iron Workers Local No. 379 in Lafayette. He was a World War II veteran, serving in Europe with Army Company C, 71st Infantry. He was a member of the Chalmers American Legion Post No. 268.

Surviving with the wife are three daughters; Mrs Randy (Lora) Tweedy and Julie Kellerhals, both of Brookston and Mrs Dave (Judy) Mikels, Louisville, Ky.; two sons, Steve and Alan; both of Chalmers; one brother, Frank, Ottawa, Kansas; five sisters; Edna Whitworth, Alice Pruitt and Letha Deskins, all of Ottawa, Kansas, Ella Richardson, Wellington, Kansas and  Georgia Ward, Chanute, Kansas; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Two brothers and three sisters are deceased.

Services were conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev Lore Shuman officiating.

Military graveside rites were conducted at IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
