Helen (Richardson) Mansfield, 85, of Jensen Beach, Fla., and formerly a Brookston resident died Saturday, May 31, 2003 at Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart, Florida.
She was born August 5, 1917 in White County the daughter of James and Mary Mattin Richardson, and lived in Brookston for 56 years before moving to Florida where she has resided for 23 years.
She worked as a cook at several Brookston restaurants.
She was a member of Brookston United Methodist Church and Rebekah Lodge.
She married Claude Mansfield at Monticello on October 2, 1936. He died December 27, 1995.
Other survivors include five sons, Claude Jr. (Joyce) Mansfield, of Rensselaer, Jerry (Janelle) Mansfield of Jensen Beach, Fla., Bradley (Diane) Mansfield of Brookston, Dennis (Mary) Mansfield of St. Cloud, Fla., Todd (Darla) Mansfield and Joe (Kathy) Richardson both of Brookston; two daughters, Sue (Noah) Wells and Barb (T.C.) Kerr both of Whittier, N.C.; two brothers, Jimmy (Eileen) Richardson of St. Cloud, Fla. and Rene (Sharon) Richardson of Lafayette; three sisters, Velma Oilar, Jensen Beach, FL, Rogene (Eugene) Shedrow and Betty (Don) Taylor, both of Lafayette, In. She had 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
One brother and two sisters preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the Hartzler Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be at the Brookston United Methodist church at 10 a[.]m[.] on Thursday with Rev. Jan Dimick & Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating.
Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brookston.
