Marvin Manns

Marvin N. Manns Sr., 73, of Monticello, died Saturday, July 24, 2004 at his residence near Buffalo.

He was born on March 17, 1931 in Chicago Heights, Ill., to Albert and Elsie Jennet Manns.

He had lived in the Buffalo area since 1976, coming from Cedar Lake. He was a self-employed contractor and could do almost anything from auto repair to carpentry, auto sales to operating heavy equipment.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was a member of the AMVETS and American Legion Post, both of Monticello, as well as the Eagles Lodge in Monon.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially his pontoon boat.

Survivors include a son, Marvin N. Manns, Jr., of Buffalo; daughter Betty Manns of Chicago Heights, Ill.; sons Ronald L. Manns of Momence, Ill., and Dan P. Conrad of Olive Hill, Tenn.; daughter Linda C. Conrad of Flora; sons Mike A. Conrad of Florida and Scott Conrad of Madison; brother Al Manns of Portage and companion Judy Greear of Buffalo; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Billie M. Novak, three sisters, one brother and one grandson are deceased.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home in Monticello with Rev. Chris Dodson officiating.

Burial with full military rites was at the Buffalo Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Southern Care Hospice Program in Lafayette.
