Word has been received here of the death of Ralph Holwerda Mahin, 91, at Town and Country Convalescent Center, Tampa, Florida, on July 20, 1987 at 12:20 p.m., where he had been a patient since Jan. 1, 1987. Mr Mahin resided at 3811 North Oak Drive, Apartment E-11, Tampa, Florida 33811 since Feb. 1983, moving to Tampa from Badenton, Florida where he had been a winter resident since 1952. He was born at Battle Ground, Ind. on March 16 1896 to Mary Jane Holwerda Mahin and August Eddy Mahin. His marriage was to Margaret Dawes Cowdin on Dec. 28, 1921 at Monticello, Ind. He was a long time farmer in the Brookston, Ind. community until his full retire ment 14 years ago. Mr Mahin was responsible for organizing the White County Rural Electric Corp. Co-operative in 1939. He served as President of the R.E.M.C. until his retirement. He was active in White County Farm Bureau and the White County Farm Bureau Co-op for many years while an active farmer. He was member and Past Master of the Brookston Lodge F. & A.M. No. 68 subsequently affiliated with Libanus Lodge No. 154 Monticello, Ind., a member of Scottish Rite and Egypt Temple Shrine, both at Tampa, Florida. Mr Mahin is survived by his wife, Margaret, one son, Ralph Cowdin Mahin, daughter-in-law, Bette Wilkinson Mahin, granddaughter, Lisa Ranae (Mrs David Champlain), great grandson, Justin Grant Champlain, all of Tampa, Florida. Two sisters and one brother preceded him in death. A daughter, Imogene Mahin, died Dec. 21, 1943 at age 10 at Brookston, Ind. A memorial service will be held at Brookston, Ind. at a later date. Time and place will be announced. Cremains will be intered on the family plot at Delphi, Ind. following the Memorial Service. Mr Mahin, although not a member, was affiliated through family ties with the Badger Grove Church. Future arrangements by Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, Ind.
