Word has been received here of the death of Margaret Dawes Mahin, 87, at Town and Country Convalescent Center, Tampa, Florida, Dec. 20, 1987, where she had been a patient for one year. Mrs Mahin resided at 3811 North Oak Drive, Apt. E-11 Tampa, Florida 33611, since Feb. 1983, moving to Tampa from Bradenton, Florida, where she had been a winter resident since 1962.
She was born at Delphi, Ind., Sept. 18, 1900, to Josella Roach Cowdin and Thomas E. Cowdin. Her marriage was to Ralph Holwerda Mahin, Dec. 28, 1921 at Monticello, Ind. She was a former school teacher and lived in the Brookston area most of her life. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Old Springboro Gang Homemakers Club, and had been affiliated with the Badger Grove Community Church.
Mrs Mahin is survived by one son, Ralph Cowdin Mahin, daughter-in-law, Bette Wilinson Mahin, granddaughter, Mrs David (Lisa Ranae) Champlain, great grandson, Justin Grant Champlain all of Tampa, Florida. Her late husband died July 20, 1987 and one brother, Thomas J. Cowdin preceded her in death. A daughter Imogene Mahin, died Dec. 21, 1943 at age 10 at Brookston, Ind.
A double memorial service for Mr and Mrs Mahin will be held Sunday, May 1,1988, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 101 West 4th St., Brookston, Ind. at 4 p.m. Commencing at 2 p.m. a visitation and fellowship with family and friends will be held preceding the Memorial Service conducted by Rev Eugene Parker, former Pastor of Badger Grove Church. It is r quested that in leiu [sic] of flowers please donate to your favorite charity and Badger Grove Community Baptist Church. It is also requested of those attending to please bring any photo, old or recent, of either or both Margaret or Ralph, or of any event touching their lives so it can be shared in remembrance of them by friends and family.
