Royce M. Lucas

Royce Marvine Lucas, 62, Brookston, died Thursday, Nov. 19, at 3:47 a.m. in White Co. Memorial Hospital, Monticello.  He had been ill for several years.

He was born June 1, 1936, to Manden C. and Alyne B. Hicks Lucas, in Chalmers. He first married Rosalie Jordan in 1957. They were divorced. He then married Wanda T. (Wendy) Harshey on March 21, 1986, and she survives.

He graduated in 1953, from Chalmers high School. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict He was a sergeant with Hq. Co. 3rd Tk. Bn. from July 1953 until July 1956.

He was a former truck driver and an insurance agent

He was a member of the Brookston Church of Christ.

He was a member of Chalmers American Legion Post No. 268.

Surviving with his wife are three sons, Dean of Dayton; Kenneth of Brookston and Terry of Francesville; a daughter, Mrs Donald (Kendora) Furr of Wolcott; four stepchildren, Kimberly Spradlin, Suzanne Neal, William Neal and Joseph Neal all of Martisnville; two sisters, Colleen Young and Mrs Stephen (Debra) Herget, both of Brookston and 14 grandchildren.

An infant son and brother are deceased.

Funeral services were Sunday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston. Pastor Bill Henderson officiated.

Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery with military rites by Chalmers American Legion Post No. 268.

Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
