Doris L. Lowry

          Doris L. Taylor Lowry, 68, of 102 North St., Battle Ground, died Thursday, Sept. 8 in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette.  She had been ill since April.

          She was born March 13 1926 in Henryville. She had lived in the Ash Grove and Battle Ground areas for the past 43 years. She married C. Kenneth Lowry on Nov. 13, 1946 in Battle Ground. He died Oct. 27, 1976.

          She was a graduate of Huffer Beauty College in Lafayette. She had owned Doris' Beauty Shop for the past 33 years.
          She was a member of Women of the Moose, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 1154 and the Rebecca Lodge, all in Lafayette, the Order of Eastern Star in Battle Ground and the American Hairdressers Association. An avid bowler, she received the Dedicated Bowler Award in 1989 and 1990.
          Surviving are two sons, Jerry of Rt. 1, Bringhurst, and Rodney of Rt. 1, Battle Ground; two daughters, Pattie McKee of Lafayette. and Penny Burgess of Battle Ground: three brothers, Earl Taylor of Attica, Jim Taylor of Rt. I, Battle Ground, and Ernie Taylor of Zionsville; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
          Two brothers. Ward Taylor and Roy Taylor are deceased.
          Services were Monday. Sept. 12. at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, Rev. Lewis Ruman officiated.
          Interment was in Cario Cemetery, Tippecanoe County.
