Edna May Lear


Edna May Lear, 93, formerly of Rensselaer and Monon, died Thursday, Nov. 12, in Miller's Merry Manor, Indianapolis.

She was born May 6, 1905, to Samuel L. and Luella B. Naugle Dismore, in Salem.  She was married Feb. 16, 1922, to Abe M. Lear, in Sitka. He died May 3, 1984.

She was educated in the Washington County public schools.

She moved to Jasper County from White County in 1935 and returned in 1976 to Monon. She moved back to Rensselaer 13 years later.

She was a homemaker and had been a cook at the Jasper Co. Hospital for six years.

She was a member of the Winamac Nazarene Church.

She is survived by two sons, Herman A. of Paris, Mo. and Larry R. of Monticello; two daughters, Mary Phegley, Indianpolis, and Betty Curfman of Moline, Ill.; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.

Funeral services were Monday at Jackson Funeral Chapel, Rensselaer, with Pastor Wayne Bogue officiating.

Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Rensselaer.
