Leader, 76, Monticello, was dead on arrival at White County Memorial Hospital
on Sunday. April 16, 2000.
He was born Nov. 4, 1923 in Urbana to Charles and Grace Banes Leader. He married Phyllis J. Haas on Dec. 28, 1947 in Round Grove. She survives.
He farmed all of his life. He also owned Leader Bin Sales in Round Grove.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps where he participated in action against the enemy at Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands from April 1, 1945 to June 30, 1945. He also participated in the Occupation of China from Oct. 1, 1945 to April 12, 1946.
He was a member of the former Pine Grove Methodist Church
He wintered in Florida for 23 years.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Robert G. Leaders of Round Grove; a daughter, Judith Ann Leader of Palm Bay, Fla.: grandchildren Jacqui Miller, Rob Leader and Jonathon Leader; and a brother, Gene Leader of Atlanta, GA.
Two brothers and a sister are deceased.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
