Thomas L. Kiser, 66, of Monticello, died Thursday, January 12, 2006 at White County Memorial Hospital.
He was born on the family farm in Princeton Township on February 26, 1939, to Vance Cyril and Daisy Alberta (Burns) Kiser.
He married Kay Dugan on September 7, 1958. She survives.
He attended Monon and Wolcott Schools.
As a teenager, he worked at various farms in the area.
He was a farmer in Cass and Princeton Townships. He served as Cass Township Trustee from 1973-1978. He retired from Carpenter's Local Union No. 215, Lafayette. He had previously worked at Sears Roebuck Co., Chesebrough Ponds, and RCA. He drove a school bus for the Pioneer School Corporation.
He was affiliated with the ACSC for 15 years.
He was baptized at the Mount Zion Church, Wolcott, and was affiliated with the Monticello United Methodist Church.
He was a member of the Royal Center Lodge 585 F&AM. He was a member of the Gold Prospectors Association of America.
The many interests he had trough the years included woodworking, hiking in the deserts and mountains of Arizona, gardening and tinkering in his shop. He also enjoyed Western movies, fishing and traveling in his R.V., photography, go-cart driving, cars and especially prospecting for gold the past four years.
His greatest joy came in helping family and friends. He was a steadfast and loving husband, father and grandfather who will be lovingly missed.
Other survivors include his mother, Daisy Kiser; sons Thomas (Faith) Kiser, Brooklyn, N.Y., Dennis (Laurie) Kiser, and Matthew (Kelly) Kiser, both of Monticello; daughters, Kimberly (Gary) Schreyer, Royal Center and Jennifer (Trent) Rice, Tipton; brother Jack (Maggie) Kiser, Donna Texas; sisters, Betty Wooldridge, Monticello, Mildred White, Winamac, and Judy (Jim) Leach, Lehigh Acres, Florida; one aunt and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He had 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A grandson and three brother are deceased.
Funeral services were Monday at Fisher-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with Rev. Wes Brookshire officiating.
Burial was in Palestine Cemetery in Princeton Township.
