Richard Kelly Sr.

Richard Dean Kelly, Sr., 76, of Chalmers, died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 25, 2004, while vacationing with his family in Supply, N.C.

He was born in White County on March 12, 1928, to Edward and Nina Eddy Kelly. He married Dorothy Eisert in Monticello on May 29, 1949. She survives.

He grew up in the Reynolds and Monon area, spending his entire life in White county.

He owned and operated Dick Kelly Excavation and Construction Company.

He was the former Chief of Chalmers Volunteer Fire Department, former member of the White County Ag Association, Big Creek Trustee, White County Council, former president of the Chalmers Civic Club and a member of Libanus Lodge 154 F&AM at Monticello, where he was a Past Master.

Other survivors include his children, Darlene (Brad) Culver and Debra Kelly, both of Chalmers and Richard Kelly, Jr. of Greenwood; brothers, Robert (Joy) Kelly and Dale Kelly, both of Reynolds and Raymond (Barbara) Kelly of Battle Ground; a sister, Virginia Walton of Indianapolis; and grandchildren, Kelly (Kevin) Warner of Chicago and Christian and Andrea Culver of Chalmers.

Funeral services were Monday at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston with Rev. Jan Dimmick officiating.

Burial was in Chalmers Cemetery.
