L. Bernice Kelly

L. Bernice Kelly, 76, R.1, Chalmers, died Friday, Aug. 17, at 8 a.rn. in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette.

She was born May 13, 1914, to Jesse and Leah Shigley Wakeman, in Indianapolis. She was married Jan. 10, 1935, to Harmon D. Kelly, in Monticello. He died June 29, 1983.

She graduated from Chalmers High School in 1932..

She was a homemaker and had been employed at Purdue. She spent the winter in Florida for the past 10 years.

She was a member of  the Chalmers Community Church, the WCF and Afternoon Circle of the Church, Charming Chatty's Home Extension Club, Chalmers Hook Club, Lafayette 'YWCA, Frontier Senior Citizens Club and Twin
Lake Senior Citizens Club and the Trailer Estates Convenant Church in Florida.

Surviving are two sons, Jim, R.1, Chalmers and Max, West Lafayette; two daughters, Mrs Herb (Carol Lee) Hick, R.5, Monticello, and Mrs Charles (Mary Lou) Deno, R.4, Monticello; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

The funeral was Monday in the Chalmers Community Church with the Rev Loren Shuman officiating. Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston, was in charge of the service.

Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.
