Samuel Johns, Sr.

Samuel "Mohair" E. Johns, Sr., 61, of Burnettsville, died on Saturday, December 12, 2004 at his home.

He was born at Monon on February 20, 1943 to Harry E. and Valeria G. Bulington Johns.

He married Berniece L. Browne on September 1, 1963 at Monticello. She survives.

He graduated from Monon High School in 1962 and was a lifelong resident of the White County area.

He worked at RCA in Monticello for 21 years, Monon Trailer for two years and at Wabash National in Lafayette for 16 years. He became disabled in 2001.

He was a member of the former Monon Presbyterian Church.

He drove stock cars for several years and enjoyed trai1-riding mules through state parks, hunting, fishing, trapping and raising exotic animals.

Other survivors includes sons, Samuel (Brenda) Johns, Jr. of Delphi, Ronald Johns of Monticello and daughter Kimberly Johns of Monticello; brothers Merle (Catherine) Johns of Monon; David (Sandy) Johns and Jerry (Mary) Johns, both of Monticello; a sister Alma Redmon of Reynolds and nine grandchildren.

An infant daughter, Susan Elaine Johns and two brothers are deceased.

Funeral services were this morning (Wednesday) at Kellogg Funeral Home in Monon with Rev. Steve Birch officiating.

There was a direct cremation following the services.
