Dallas E. Johnson

Dallas E. Johnson, 61, 320 N Beach Dr., Monticello, died Tuesday. June 15, at White Co Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 13, 1938, to Earl and Lela Merry Johnson, in St. Francesville, Ill. He was mar ried Oct. 11, 1958, to Patricia M. Keefer, in Hessville, and she survives.

He graduated from Hammond Technical High School in Hammond and served three years in the U.S.Army. He also served in the Army Reserves until 1966.

He was employed for 18 years at the White County Sheriff's Department, retiring as director of White County Communications in 1995.

He was instrumental in the implememation of the 911 emergency system in this area

He then worked as a truck driver for Hardebeck Trucking Inc. for over four years.

He was a member of the White County Alert which later was the White County Civil Defense. He was active in the Red Cross and was a Girl Scout leader for 12 years.

He also was an active member of the White Co. G.O.P., serving as precinct committee chairman and treasurer. He also ran for White County Sheriff in the 1990 primary election.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church.

He was a member of the F.O.P. and the Monticello American Legion.

He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mrs Tim (Lorna) Andres of Noblesville; Mrs Joe (Paula) Stucker of Brownsburg; Mrs Tom (Debra) Krulik of Martinsville and Mrs David (Tina) Wolfe of Monticello; two brothers, Ernest of Monticello and Billy of Gary; mother-in-law, Margaret Keefer of Monticello and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral service was Friday, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, with the Rev James Goodrum and the Rev Robert Fosselman officiating.

Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home was in charge.

Burial was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon, with military rites.

Memorials may be given to the White County Red Cross.
