Carl Johnson

Carl Johnson, 70, of 522 Railroad St., Monon, died Sunday, October 25th in Vencor Hospital, Indianapolis.

He was born May 20, 1928 in Jasper County, the son of Ted and Anna Beryl (Chapman) Johnson.  He married Anna Martin on December 24, 1955 in Winamac, IN and she survives.

He had served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He had lived in White County for the past 10 years coming from Jasper County.

He attended the Medaryville Schools. A retired loader operator, he had been employed for 25 years with Vulcan Materials of Monon. He was a member of the Methodist church and the Chalmers American Legion Post #268..

Surviving besides his wife are four sons; Tom Martin of Rensselaer, Carl Dean Johnson Jr. of Francesville, Paul Johnson of Monon and Scott Johnson of Rensselaer. Two brothers, Lowell "Pete" Johnson of Monticello and John Johnson of Chalmers and one sister Norma Johnson of Buffalo.  He had 8 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.

1 daughter, 2 brothers and 1 sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were at the Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer at 10:30 a.m. today, with Pastor Elmer Conley officiating.

Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Rensselaer.
