Helen Houser Janeck, 90, of Rensselaer, and formerly of Monon, died Friday, March 16, 2001 at Jasper County Hospital, Rensselaer. She had been ill seven months.
She was born February 26, 1911 in Myers, Ky., the daughter of G. Earl Martin, M.D. and Elizabeth Buchanan Martin. She married Dr. Wayne Houser in Williamsburg, Ind., on February 27, 1932. He died in April 1965. She married Kenneth Janeck in Seattle, Wash., in 1977m [sic] he died in 1987.
She was a graduate of Williamsburg High School and attended Indiana University.
She was a homemaker. She lived in Monon from 1934 to 1967, then moved to Tacoma, Wash. In 1990 she returned to Monon and moved to Rensselaer in 1995.
She attended Trinity United Methodist Church, Rensselaer, and was a member of the Monon United Methodist Church.
She was Past Worthy Grand Matron in Order of Eastern Star of Indiana. She was an avid bridge player and was a member of Rensselaer Literary Club.
Grandchildren, Kimberly Garwood of Rensselaer, and Martin Garwood of Monon; two step-granddaughters; three great-granddaughters; and one great-great granddaughter survive her.
A brother and sister are deceased.
