Willie James

Willie James, 77, 1004 Linda Ave., Monticello, died Monday, Dec. 7, in Monticello Community Healthcare Center, where he had been a patient for three days. He had been seriously ill two months.

He was born in Commisky, March 8, 1910, to Rufus and Oacle Burris James. His marriage to Margaret I. Carpenter was on Oct. 10, 1938. She died May 13, 1972.

He lived in Monticello and White County most of his life and was a member of St James Lutheran Church at Reynolds.

He was an employee of the White Co. Memorial Hospital for 15 years and operated the James' Cottages on Lake Shafer for 22 years. He also was a world traveler, having visited several countries during his lifetime.

Survivors include his mother, Oacle, Reynolds; one daughter, Mrs Carl (Carol) Taskey, Monticello; one son, Russell, Staten Island, N.Y.; two brothers, Harold, Wolcott; and John A., Reynolds; eight sisters, Effie Wiese, Mary Ruemler and Betty Criswell, all of Reynolds; Dortha Zarse, Chalmers, Charlotte Swartz and Rosie Young, both of Indianapolis; Annbelle Clark, Las Vegas, Nev.; and Marilyn Montgomery, Louisville, KY.

One sister and one brother are deceased.

The funeral was at 10:30 a.m. today in Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home at Monticello, with the Rev Stephen E Koenig officiating.

Burial was in Lutheran Cemetery at Reynolds.
